The Pine Creek Burial Boondoggle Needs Celebrating
A very merry Christmas to one and all!
Please find below the paywall my opinion published by a national media house on August 22, 2023 about the discovery of no discovery made by Derek Nepinak, Chief of the Pine Creek Indian Reserve northwest of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
According to Nepinak, the results — no human remains found of allegedly murdered children under the basement of the Roman Catholic church on his reserve — will feed into a “denialist" narrative of what happened at residential schools and urged people to continue supporting the search for truth.
“The results of our excavation under the church should not be deemed as conclusive of other ongoing searches and efforts to identify reflections from other community processes including other (ground-penetrating radar) initiatives. Each search is unique and they should not be compared.”
This assertion is truly illogical, as are so many indigenous assertions because they are unhinged from Western Enlightenment notions of logical argumentation.
If every burial search is unique and should never be compared to each other, then no generalizations would ever be possible (including the generalization that generalizing is impossible when it comes to indigenous burials) that is minimally a denial of the allegedly infallible truths in the indigenous grievance bible — the final report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada — which is brimming with generalizations about the boarding schools.
I believe this scientific excavation accompanied by an RCMP investigation will never be replicated anywhere else in Canada for fear that the results would be exactly the same as the Pine Creek one, thereby exposing the assertion of “thousands of missing Indian Residential School children buried in unmarked graves” for the despicable anti-scientific, anti-Christian hoax it is.
