Jim McMurtry, is the son of Roy McMurtry, a prominent Canadian lawyer, former high ranking Ontario politician, and retired chief justice of the Province of Ontario.
In turn, Jim McMurtry is an award-winning history teacher whose career stretches over nearly 40 years. He freely and apologetically admits that his “non-conformist teaching which sometimes combats the political indoctrination of schools” was instrumental in earning him two lengthy unpaid “cancel culture” suspensions, the end result being his current battle against permanent termination by the hyper-woke British Columbia Abbotsford School District.
McMurtry's second suspension followed a directive that teachers “educate” (read: indoctrinate) their students about the then Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc (Kamloops) band that "the remains of 215 children who were students of the Kamloops Indian Residential School," some "as young as three years old” had been discovered buried at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School (KIRS).

OFFICE OF THE CHIEF
May 27, 2021, Kamloops – It is with a heavy heart that Tk’emlúps te Secwé pemc Kukpi7 (Chief) Rosanne Casimir confirms an unthinkable loss that was spoken about but never documented by the Kamloops Indian Residential School. This past weekend, with the help of a ground penetrating radar specialist, the stark truth of the preliminary findings came to light – the confirmation of the remains of 215 children who were students of the Kamloops Indian Residential School.
There has been no such confirmation, absolutely none.
McMurtly recognized this and instead correctly informed his students that the main cause of death among students when the IRSs operated was tuberculosis, along with secondary causes like fires and neglect.
Despite such information being listed in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s own reports, McMurtry was summarily escorted out of the high school calculus class he was teaching on May 31, 2021 and given an eight-month suspension.
McMurtly’s long and distinguished career is still on hold, as the following media video posted below with his consent reveals.

As an added treat, I also include brief excerpts from an opinion piece recently written by the National Post’s Conrad Black in which he nicely critiques McMurty’s unjust persecution.
