'Garbage in, garbage out' characterizes public opinion polls about complex, divisive indigenous issues
In the piece below, I question the validity of public opinion polls on complex indigenous issues, particularly those related to residential schools. I do so by highlighting the lack of evidence supporting claims of mass graves at Kamloops and the potential inaccuracies in polls based on unrepresentative samples and the knowledge of responders.
In particular, I argue that these surveys, while they may reflect public sentiment, may not accurately represent the complexities of the issues at hand.
