Outstanding thinker and prolific writer Brian Giesbrecht, after questioning how $8 million of taxpayer money could be spent by the Kamloops band without proving their claims of murdered children in unmarked graves or even accounting for the way the money was spent, now asks for an impartial public enquiry in the piece on the other side of the paywall.

I highlight the word “impartial” to emphasize the way all indigenous demands and projects are now totally conceived, promoted, and managed by self-serving indigenous elites, lining their deep pockets and inflating their huge egos in the process. No better example of this is the way the whole Kamloops “discovery” of the remains of 215 Indigenous buried in unmarked graves, their parents never informed of their fate, was invented, promulgated, and lavishly supported to serve the interests of high ranking aboriginals, as dozens of essays on this site and elsewhere have demonstrated.

Take time not only to read Giesbrecht’s important opinion piece but do your best to bombard your local federal representative (or provincial one if you reside in British Columbia) with demands for transparency and public accountability in this and related indigenous issues, now totally subverted by false claims of a need for respectful cross-cultural engagement based on aboriginal self-determination and pre-scientific forms of “knowing.”

Enough is enough. The people of Canada deserve to know the truth about the Kamloops “discovery.”
