The piece on the other side of the paywall was written by star editorial writer Brian Giesbrecht, a retired Province of Manitoba judge.

Published by a leading Canadian media house on February 5, 2023, it presents a carefully researched and intelligently critiqued overview of the “unmarked graves” that continue to be discovered on indigenous reserves associated with the Indian Residential Schools.

Giesbrecht attributes this search to greed for money and other transfers. He is correct, of course, at least as this applies to the many indigenous leaders, activists, and others who are financially benefiting from these inconclusive searches.

But also driving these scavenger hunts are nutty conspiracy theories, as Giesbrecht also mentions. These empty conspiracy theories have lead to moral panic, even mass psychosis, resulting in the destruction of dozens of mainly Catholic churches all across the country by ordinary indigenous people searching for causes other their own destructive lifestyle choices for the many adversities and pathologies they are suffering from.

This debilitating psychological projection has been exacerbated, even deliberately encouraged, by a Liberal Party federal government desperately trying to blame anyone or anything except their own incompetence and indifference — carefully masked by a preoccupation with expensive virtue signalling such as promising $321 million to search for and commemorate children who were all properly buried with established Christian rites — for the horrible socio-economic and health outcomes of too many of our indigenous people.
