This nicely written and argued piece by Peter Stockland, publisher and editor of The Catholic Register, a journal founded in 1893 thereby making it the oldest English Catholic publication in Canada, perfectly captures the contest between scientific knowledge based on verifiable facts and rational contemplation versus indigenous “knowings” based on myths and emotion when it comes to Canada’s Indian Residential Schools.
